Look'en good; O' what a shame that u came here with someone. It is pretty obvious that you have got someone crushing on you iDi. Going to die young, we are going to keep dancing, lets make the most of the night
That woman is desecrating that beautiful instrument. It doesn't fucking matter how fucking "beautiful" you are you do not treat an instrument like that. Fuck you! Both of you photographer and the model!!! Instruments can last for hundreds of years, they can withstand the test of time, human can't! Fucking hell this is insulting towards musicians!
"And I once killed a boy with a Fender guitar I don't remember if it was a telecaster or a stratocaster But I do remember that it had a heart of chrome And a voice like a horny angel"
I cannot help but hear the words of MeatLoaf when I read your complaint.
I further can't help but think that every sexy woman photographed across a sexy Ferrari is somehow desecrate the Ferrari based on your thoughts.
While I can nearly see what you are saying, I don't see where there is harm to the woman, the camera, or the instrument, and so we have a photo done in good taste (or bad) that will appeal (or not) to various people.
And I think, one way or another the photographer got it exactly right, because he did elicit a strong emotional response from you, and from others. That is enough for me to say it is a worthy photo, though perhaps not what I would put on my wall.
I didn't say he didn't achieve what he was aiming to do. Hell if I take a photograph of someone killing kittens it would get strong emotional response - at least I assume so.
He got a reaction out of me, but I don't think it was the one he was looking for.
Still I think this picture is very distasteful. Also if the model would have accidently pushed the bridge or strings a bit to the wrong direction. The tension on the string and on the soundpost could have cracked the bout of the instrument or cause the soulpost to damage the bass bar isnide the instrument. The instrument would been ruined - and would have needed serious expensive repairs my master luther to fix. The space between F-holes is extremely weak if the balance of tension goes wrong, hence why Contra's are almost NEVER de-stringed.
And such beautiful instrument doesn't deserve such tragedy. No matter how "beautiful" the bimbo sitting on top of the bass is.
Also yes, I find a woman sitting on a Ferrari also distasteful and desecrating the car (hence why i do not go to auto-shows). Every object that has been crafted by a craftsman has their own soul and deserve their own respect. The labor of design and crafting, experience and talent required to make such magnificent object as a Ferrari or a ContraBass deserve respect.
I just happen to respect the worksmanship more than humans. Specially if the idea of the picture is to used sexual interest to get attention, I find the whole idea distasteful.
NO! Here the bass is not instrument of creation but a prop, not a tool. It is like calling the radiator or the shoes of the model as tools of art. - They are not they are objects, props. That bass regardless of it's age is a magnificent work of art, and that German type of a bass with clearly coiled strings is a magnificent expensive thing. It can last hundreds of years when treated right - this is disrespecting the craftsman and the instrument.
I am not trolling. I sincerely find this picture to be extremely distasteful. Well maybe because I respect musical instruments more than people. Oh noes someoe with different values and views - can you handle that?
"Oh noes someoe with different values and views - can you handle that?"
He says while ranting about how this "prop" to WHICH THIS WORK OF ART COULD NOT HAVE BEEN CREATED WITHOUT is being "misstreated". Clearly you think there was another better way to create this image... maybe next time instead of complaining about the work someone has done you could just provide an alternative or some suggestions.
Lets just say I have more respect towards that instrument than towards the artist and that bimbo sitting on top of that majestic instrument. There is no "right" way to mistreat a musical instrument - There is no way this picture could have been done unless that bass would be made of fucking cardboard.
I never said mistreating women was okay... But I respect musical instruments more than people. Just like how I respect singers (specially coloraturas) more than I respect the man who does the sweeping of the streets.
Well calling a woman a bimbo is disrespecting. And what if the guy that sweeps the street is an amazing singer but never had the chance to make a breakthrough? What if he is a genius musician that sweeps the street to not starve because his music is breadless? Ever heard of Mozart? One of the greatest musicians of all time and in the end throw into a mass grave forgotten and poor. Do you disrespect him too? You do not know the story behind a person. So saying thing as you say make you seem ignorant. Oh and there are many music instruments that are nothing but props for movies or theater, that do not make one beautiful sound. So since no musician would risk their instrument chances are high that the bass is just a prob like that.
